WA Pros vs CBU Pros: Let the Match Begin

Because the list is so extensive, I will only compare my top three pros for each.

If you would like to check out a more complete list, please visit their solo reviews. (ClickBank University vs Wealthy Affiliate)

WA: Top Three ProsBoxing Gloves

  • Try It Free: For the first 7 days, you will have access to a multitude of resources offered at WA, and after that, you can can still maintain a free account with access to the first text/video training series from two separate courses.

You can also build and manage two websites with your free account. No Financial Information Needed to Join.

  • 100s of Hours of Content: The training is all focused toward affiliate marketing and SEO (non-paid traffic), plus, everything is organized in a step by step format with goals to accomplish before moving on to the next step.
  • Jaaxy Lite: WA premium members will have access to Jaaxy Lite, and it’s one of the most powerful SEO keyword research tools online.

CBU: Top Three Pros

  • 30 Day Money Back Guarantee: If within you first 30 days, you find yourself unhappy with the service, you can get a full refund with no questions asked.
  • Facebook: CBU members will enjoy a private Facebook support group with like-minded individuals to help with any challenges that you may have.
  • CBU Affiliate: ClickBank University has a very lucrative affiliate program that pays commissions as high as 75%. You do not have to sign up for CBU to promote this service.

Note: I should mention that WA has a very lucrative affiliate program as well, and it is also free to promote and earn commissions from. I just felt that this was less important than my top three picks, but still worth an honorable mention.

WA Cons vs CBU ConsMan Boxer

WA Cons:

  • WA App: There is an app for wealthy affiliate, however, it is completely saturated with ads. The convenience that the app should be meant to serve, is destroyed by the fact that you can barely navigate the site while using it.

I was extremely disappointed with this fact as I thought it would simplify my website management on the go. The ads are the same if you are a free or premium member.

All things considered, and while the service at the main site is extraordinary, I can’t recommend the app to anyone.

  • Only Supports English: While this doesn’t affect me directly because English is my native language and the only one I know fluently, I can see this being a barrier to entry for others who may not speak it.

Aside from possibly finding a bilingual member of the community who is willing to mentor someone threw the entire course (unlikely, but nothing is impossible), It would be very difficult for any non English-speaking individuals to participate and succeed through the WA training.

  • Content: This one can be bitter sweat and is both a pro and con. There is so much content offered at WA, if you stray from the training, you may become overwhelmed with the extensive knowledge at your fingertips.

It’s important to stick to the training until you have a firm grasp on the basic concepts, and to take things at your own pace. Don’t rush the process, success is built over time and through constant learning.

CBU Cons:Boxer Down For The Count

  • Outdated: The affiliate training is notorious for having outdated content. Considering that the focus of ClickBank University is to teach others how to create and sell their own digital products on the ClickBank marketplace, it’s no surprise that the affiliate program is being neglected.

Market trends and the internet in general are changing so often that it is important to have the most up to date and accurate info when creating your business. Outdated tactics will leave you with hours gone and nothing to show for it.

  • No Free Trial: Once upon a time, you would have had the opportunity to try their services for free without the need of any financial info. That is no longer the case. Now the only option is to accept a 30-day money back guarantee.

This means you will be paying upfront and have to go through their sales process where you will be hit with multiple upsells on products they didn’t mention previously. If you opt out, then you will likely be waiting an undisclosed amount of time for your money to be returned.

  • Upsells: As I just mentioned, you will be hit with some up sales that they don’t mention in the initial sales video. To add salt to the wound, one of the up sales is the ClickBank Builder, and it’s a strong focus of their training program.

They essentially make it a necessity for you to purchase an upsell that they didn’t even mention before. It’s not a cheap tool for the average beginner either, weighing in at $594 or two payments of $297.

What Else is Worth Noting

Here are just a few more things to consider before making a decision between the two. Check out the difference in the level of service.

By now, I imagine that you are starting to see the big picture here. WA is the winner in my book over and over again. The, step by step, take you by the hand training is optimal for beginners.

Even experts could learn something from weekly live seminars or classrooms and the community is always active and happy to lend a helping hand. They have hundreds of hours of training content at an affordable rate and your not forced into any undisclosed up sales.

In fact, they are giving you so many resources to help you build a successful online business, that you may wonder why anyone would choose CBU over WA.

I think the answer to that is because ClickBank does have Wealthy Affiliate beat in one area, hands down. That area is an affiliate marketplace that is easy to search and one of the largest in the world. The marketplace is full of vendors looking for affiliates to promote their products/services. Many of these vendors are there as a result of the CBU vendor training.

You could utilize both the WA affiliate training and the CB marketplace for their strengths. By putting both of these together, you will have a massive wealth of knowledge and an extremely abundant pool of affiliate programs.

You won’t need CBU to promote the products/services from the ClickBank marketplace.

Wrapping Up:Boxer Victory

If your anything like I was, you want to make some changes in your life financially and maybe transform yourself into a trusted business owner with a brand that you can be proud of.

You can’t afford to waste time on training that doesn’t work, or invest money on a system that your not confident will give you the desired results for your online business.

If you’re reading this review, then just as I did, your doing your due diligence by researching the options, and in doing so, your well on your way to creating that successful online business.

There are many paths that you can take to reach your destination, but only a few that can help you travel in comfort by removing so many obstacles in the way.

Wealthy Affiliate has it all in one place, and as a bonus, I’ll be waiting on you to JOIN US so that I can personally help you get started on this journey.

  1. What a fantastic comparison you made here, Darren!  Wealthy Affiliate truly outclasses ClickBank.  I tend to look at WA this way: it’s for people who want to commit and work hard to establish an online business.  It’s also about learning and mastering the fundamentals of online marketing.  But what I find interesting is ClickBank’s audacity to upsell so much even though most of their methods are outdated. It’s great that you differentiated the two so people are more aware of what WA is all about.

    • Thank You for reading and I’m happy you enjoyed it.

Wealthy Affiliate does outclass ClickBank when it comes to affiliate marketing training. They are very up front and honest about the fact that they do not offer a done for you system. You must put in the work and build it yourself but they are happy to guide you along the path to your eventual success online.

I feel that is one of the reasons that the try before you buy offer is so appealing. Anyone who is unsure but still wants to at least try, can do so with spending a dime. This affords many the opportunity to start an online business, who may otherwise have not been able to afford such a commitment they were unsure of. There are no obligations or required up-sells inside WA, so you don’t feel pressured to spend more money to reach the overall goal of success online.

As far as the audacity of ClickBank to up-sell so much with outdated training, I would agree that this could be a big problem for them in the future. I would be extremely upset to buy into the ClickBank University 2.0 affiliate training, purchase all those up-sells, and then realize that the training is not current to the changed market.

For those who realize to late, that they have got a bad deal with outdated tactics, they will loose out on the refund and ClickBank wins while the user loses. I mentioned in the article that I found their tactics a bit shady and scamy, and I can’t say for sure that they are taking advantage of people like this, but I wouldn’t suggest that they wouldn’t either.

I believe in win win scenarios for both parties and feel that any company, online or not, should have that mindset at the core of their business model. Win Win. Help Others Help You.

      Thanks again.

      To Your Success,

      Darren

  2. Excellent review on the comparison of both wealthy affiliate and clickbanks University. Wealthy affiliate attained their excellent status from me simply because it is beginners friendly. Many affiliate marketer got exposed to the tips on how to blog and at thesame time become an affiliate marketers. Their free trial is another merit and the motivation from the platform is another golden opportunity.  Clickbanks gained their popularity simply because they have many high commission products one can do affiliate marketing or.

All thesame, the two platform as been an amazing platform I have ever seen. But based on my ranking, wealthy affiliate leads while clickbanks follow

    • Thank You for reading and you are absolutely right.

Wealthy Affiliate is well known for being beginner friendly across the board. Everything from start to finish is covered about creating an affiliate business online. From the step by step training, video tutorials, community, and everything in between, WA caters to the beginner while still offering value to the experienced.

ClickBank is well renown for their affiliate marketplace or directory of affiliate products from their own platform. Many of the products found within the ClickBank marketplace are a result of their vendor training, and many go on to make substantial gains in the market.

I’m glad you enjoyed my comparison of ClickBank vs Wealthy Affiliate. Hope to see you back soon absorbing more helpful info from The Affiliate Pathway.

      To Your Success,

  3. Great information! Thank you for putting this together. You’ve done a good job of providing a detailed review of wealthy affiliate and click bank university. I am choosing wa because of:
    1. Affordable price for starter which is $19 for first month and
    2. Lite access to SEO keyword research tools online.

With wa my financial freedom is sure. Thanks for this post

    • Thank You for reading and I’m glad it helped you make a decision.

Those are both great reasons to choose Wealthy Affiliate over ClickBank. Even after the first month membership fees, the price vs value received from WA is well worth it, and just the experience from learning online marketing could  pay major dividends in the future.

If you follow the step by step training through to completion, and put everything to work that you are taught on the WA platform, then your financial freedom will be within arms reach if not exceeded. Just remember that it takes time to grow an online business and it wont happen overnight. If you would like to learn more about the time commitment required to see success online, you should read this article on how long it takes to become a full time blogger.

  4. Hi, Darren.
Thanks for your review of Clickbank University Vs Wealthy Affiliate – based on the training aspect.
It was great to find them both on the same platform as both the systems are too popular among success seekers. Though I could not go to the CBU platform till now due to overwhelming  support and tasks of WA (Ha Ha I am Premium here), its not a regret now as I could sense the Pros and cons through your review. Thanks again.
    Warm Regards,
    Gaurav Gaur

    • Hi Gaurav Gaur and Thank You for reading.

I’m glad that you enjoyed this and also happy to hear that you are already a premium member at Wealthy Affiliate. Premium membership gives you access to the knowledge you need to create a successful online business with affiliate marketing. I am sure that if you stick with the training and put in the hard work, you will see ample success for yourself online.

You made the right choice by choosing WA and you didn’t miss much from the ClickBank affiliate training. However, once you have learned how to make money online, you could utilize the ClickBank vendor training to create your own digital products helping others do the same. I wouldn’t suggest the up-sells unless you have money to throw at it, but either way, ClickBank does have its uses.

      To Your Success,

      Darren

  5. Hi

Thanks for sharing such an important and informative post with us about clickbank vs wealthyaffiliate. I am very interested in learning about each of these affiliate training programs individually. I have read the top 3 pros and cons of each, and Wealthy Affiliate makes it easy to get the help I needed. I prefer it to clickbank any day.

Thanks again. I’ll share this post with my friends and family.

    • Thank You and you are very welcome.

Wealthy Affiliate dominates the affiliate training space and ClickBank is better suited for creating your own digital products. If you have a wealth of knowledge on a particular topic, then the ClickBank vendor training may be a good fit for you. Otherwise, if you are just looking to start affiliate marketing, then WA is the place to be.

      To Your Success,

      Darren

  6. Thank you for comparing these two systems. I never knew much about ClickBank University. The thing I didn’t like about ClickBank was that they wanted my Social Security number before I even made any money. So that’s what I associated with ClickBank University and I didn’t want to try it out. With wealthy affiliate I didn’t have to give them too much personal information just to sign up.

So right now I am doing wealthy affiliate. So far it’s going along okay and I feel like I know what I’m doing in terms of keywords and of course the keyword tool that wealthy affiliate gives you seems very helpful so that’s a good thing.

It seems like both of them have pros and cons and that’s going to be true of pretty much anything. My plan is just to do the best I can with wealthy affiliate and see how it goes. Thanks again for this comparison article it was very well written and easy to understand.

    • Thank You for reading and, as always, I’m glad you enjoyed it.

The fact that you can sign up to Wealthy Affiliate for free without giving away that personal information is one of many reasons why they are the better option. I am always sketchy about giving out my social to anything online, even the .gov websites. LOL

I’m glad to hear that you’re already on your way inside Wealthy Affiliate and the Jaaxy keyword tool will definitely help you along the way. If you would like to read some more about it, I have a review that covers many features of Jaaxy in depth, it’s worth the read if your still learning what all it has to offer and how to use it.

You are right about the pros and cons of Wealthy Affiliate vs ClickBank. There is no such thing as a perfect platform but WA does hit the high notes very well and really delivers the value for your investment.

You are very welcome for this article and I’m happy you enjoyed it.

      To Your Success,

      Darren

  7. Hello
I must say that this article is very useful

We deal with WA for three months and is very easy to use especially for beginners like me, you have the ability to manage multiple blogs and one very important tool Jaaxy Lite (one of the most powerful SEO keyword search tools online).

In the chart you mentioned I believe it says all about the many positive elements that WA has from ClickBank

Thanks for sharing these helpful tips, I definitely learned something new.

    • Thanks for reading

The point of this articles was to be informative about the differences in affiliate training in regards to Wealthy Affiliate vs ClickBank. There many searching for quality affiliate marketing training programs and I feel that WA will beat ClickBank every time. CBU 2.0 is more about creating your own digital products and they do a good job of that, but they just can’t touch the Wealthy Affiliate affiliate training courses.

I’m glad you were able to learn something new with this article. That means I’m doing my job and helping others.

      To Your Success,

      Darren

  8. Darren, I like to read these reviews because I can get a an informed opinion on these platforms which would definitely help me who just recently started my online career. The biggest turn off for me with the Clickbank platform besides the pay to start requirement, is the fact that their information is not up to date. Can you imagine how much of a disadvantage that is for a newbie? Thank you for your review with the details so well presented.

    • Thank You for reading and I’m happy to help.

The fact that the ClickBank affiliate training is outdated is a huge disadvantage for any beginners. The online marketing world is changing all the time. I wouldn’t expect any company to redo their entire training series with every new update as they would never stop replacing it, however I don’t feel that it’s unreasonable to have it updated, or at the very least noted every couple of years or so.

Just adding notes to the current training and saying “x,y,z has changed some and this is the best method going forward”, would be better than just leaving it as is. This could be especially harmful to a beginner if they were unintentionally being taught black hat methods that are no longer valid, and put the new user at risk of destroying their hard work before it’s even started.

I thank you again for reading and come back anytime to see my latest articles and let me know how I’m doing.

      To Your Success,

      Darren

  9. Hi Darren,

Wealthy Affiliate seems a good start for a beginner like me since the price is more reasonable with all the advantages mentioned in your article, including Jaaxy – the powerful keywords search platform.

I love the ideas that you compare wealthy affiliate and Clickbank university 2.0 together, and I could make the decision for my first trial. Since there is not a free trial for Clickbank, I would definitely try wealthy affiliate.

I wonder do you have a related video or introduction for both programs too? I find it more appealing sometimes and would love to view for later, thanks!

    Matt

    • Hi Matt, Thank You for reading and I’m glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful.

Wealthy Affiliate is indeed, a great place for beginners to start online in affiliate marketing, and it does have far more advantages over ClickBank University 2.0.

For anyone looking to try affiliate marketing on a budget, then WA is the place to be. I would still recommend utilizing the ClickBank affiliate programs though, as they have a huge directory with many quality products. Just do the due diligence when picking those products.

Wealthy Affiliate has recently come out with their own affiliate directory, and unlike ClickBank, WA pulls affiliate programs from many affiliate directories and combines them, making it easy to search from inside the Wealthy Affiliate platform. I’ll have an article covering this update soon, as it’s a huge added advantage to the WA membership, and at no extra cost. Check back later to read that as well, or check it out yourself from inside WA.

      Thanks again Matt.

      To Your Success,

      Darren
